Maricopa Proposes Sales Tax for SR 347 Improvements

**City of Maricopa Considers Sales Tax to Address SR 347 Traffic Issues**

The City of Maricopa is proposing a half-cent sales tax to fund crucial transportation projects aimed at directly benefiting local residents. The primary focus of this proposal is to improve regional connectivity, with an emphasis on addressing the long-standing traffic problems on State Route (SR) 347.

SR 347, a critical route for Maricopa residents, has not been expanded in over 30 years and faces significant traffic challenges. Although the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) manages SR 347, no funding has been allocated for widening the portion of the road within Pinal County. Without intervention, improvements could remain delayed for decades.

The proposed sales tax would help close the funding gap for widening SR 347. Additionally, it could support other future projects to enhance transportation and ensure residents can travel more safely and efficiently.

For more information about the proposal and its potential impact on residents, visit the City of Maricopa’s official website at [www.maricopa-az.gov/betterroads](http://www.maricopa-az.gov/betterroads).
